Digital Collections provides online access to Library Resources

Georgia State University Library’s Digital Collections is comprised of rare or unique resources which have been digitized or are born digital. These resources come from of the University Library’s Special Collections and Archives and, in some cases, its general collection, and are selected for digitization so they can be accessed online to support the research interests of scholarly communities and the general public worldwide. Our Digital Collections include manuscripts, photographs, periodicals, newspapers, oral histories, sound recordings, maps, and printed materials. As of early 2012, the Library has placed over 21,000 items online in 19 separate collections.

What’s included in Digital Collections?
Selections from the Southern Labor Archives, the Johnny Mercer Collections, the Georgia Women’s Movement Oral History Project, and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Photograph Collection, to name a few. You can browse the entire list of collections here.

Digital Collections does not include theses, dissertations, or other research papers/findings from Georgia State University students and faculty. These items can be found in the Digital Archive @ Georgia State University, which is a separately maintained online repository that highlights the research and scholarly productivity of members of the University community.

Accessing Digital Collections
Users can browse by individual collections, but Digital Collections also allows users to search across collections from its main page so that all available resources for a chosen topic will appear in Digital Collections’ search results, and not just those from one collecting area.

For questions or comments about Digital Collections, please contact Special Collections and Archives.

One Response to Digital Collections provides online access to Library Resources

Thank you for scanning and posting the photos online! This is such a fantastic resource. I’ve literally spent hours upon hours looking through the old photos of Atlanta. I’m specifically looking for historic photos of my neighborhood. Do you take requests? I’m in SW Atlanta in the Westview neighborhood near Cascade and Ralph David Abernathy Blvd (Gordon). Keep up the great work!
