			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Pulitzer Prize winning author Alice Walker&#8217;s papers will go on display on April 24th.  There will be a formal opening on April 23rd in the Schatten Gallery  of the Robert W. Woodruff Library on the Emory University Campus.  Alice Walker will visit the campus on April 24th at 8 p.m. to celebrate the opening of the papers.  The material includes scrapbooks, drafts of her early writings, notebooks and photographs.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The University&#8217;s <a href="http://www.library.umass.edu">W.E.B DuBois Library</a> has about 100,000 letters, diaries, photographs and other items on DuBois&#8217; life and work.  The library plans to scan, catalog, digitize and put online the papers of this noted sociologist and civil rights pioneer who helped found the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).  This is a two year project beginning in July and funded by Verizon.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A great historian passed away March 25th in Durham North Carolina.  John Hope Franklin, most known for his pioneering history of African Americans &#8211; <u><strong><em>From Slavery to Freedom</em></strong></u> &#8211; first published in 1947, died of heart failure at the age of 94.  His life is being celebrated today in all the media outlets because of his dedication to researching and documenting the truth about the history of race and the African American in this country.</p>
